The Snares
of the Enemy
By Kenneth L.
Birks
Hearing the
joyful sound from His Spirit, we
delight.
In the light
of His countenance, we walk in His
might.
Lifted above
the circumstances of life, we rejoice.
No longer
controlled by concerns, we lift voice.
With hearts
set accordingly, we treasure His
abundance.
With all that
has been given, the enemy comes to
steal.
Setting
traps, he seduces and snares as thoughts
swirl.
With
worthless things, he distracts from
what’s valued.
Coming to
destroy, he drags us into pits of
depression.
Falling into
self-pity, we’re often snared in
transgression.
In
desperation, we cry to be rescued while
none seem to care.
As some turn
their backs, we sink deeper into
despair.
Overwhelmed
by snares set secretly, we cry to be
rescued.
Trapped in
despair, He sets us free to be
delivered.
Released from
bondage, we set our hearts to praise
Him.
With words
fitly spoken, He rescues with
encouraging words.
Though the
enemy sets traps, we trust in God and
His precepts.
Watching over
our paths, He knows the ways that must
be kept.
With
testimonies of those before us, we set
as our heritage.
With
countenances lifted, we rejoice in
truths mastered.
With hearts
inclined according to His word, forever
we proclaim.
To the end,
we follow hard, He who faithfully
rescues from regret.
To Him who
sets us free, we give thanksgiving and
praise.
With
blessings flowing, He guides us around
traps set.
With the
joyful sound of His Spirit, our
countenance delights.
