Great
Lovers of God
By Kenneth L.
Birks
Caught in a
whirlwind of self-glory, the Father
breaks through.
Looking
beyond our sin, His love sheds, giving
hope to all.
Filled with
an abundance of love, He draws us unto
Himself.
From His
great treasures, all things about life,
He provides.
Sensing love
washing through, desire to give back
consumes.
Consumed with
desires to be great lovers of Him, we
question.
What can we
do for Him, who fills us with such great
love?
Like flashes
of light in the night, epiphanies from
His Word convey.
With all our
heart, strength, mind, and soul, we
return His love.
Loving our
neighbor, we go, fulfilling His great
commandment.
Filed with
emotional love, praise, and worship, we
give Him.
Bowing before
Him filled with praise, we adore Him.
No longer
aloof, playing intellectual games, we
worship.
With hearts
engaged, we go forth pursuing His
desires.
Losing
dignity in His presence, we become fools
for Christ.
With our
strength, we present our bodies as
living sacrifices.
Laying lives
down for others, His body refreshes and
strengthens.
Esteeming
others’ needs more important; we give
sacrificially.
Knowing our
reasonable service of love, we give
ourselves freely.
Girding the
loins of our minds, we rest our hope on
grace.
Willingly
submitting our souls, we’re given to His
desires.
Embracing
discipline, the soul is trained by His
Spirit.
Obediently,
giving free rein, He accesses areas
stumbling.
Confronting
the will, we partake of bitter herbs
that transform.
Reigned in,
we go forth into battle fully engaged in
His love.
Minds filled
with His Word; we press with greater
revelation.
Pressing on
with love for His Word, we’re revived
daily.
Rising in the
morning dawn, we meditate in His Word,
often.
Holding His
word before us, we’re restrained from
all evil.
Hiding His
Word in our hearts, we’re kept from
sinful ways.
Giving praise
and honor to Him above, we give thanks.
With His
great love taking root, we become
conquerors.
Becoming His
great lovers, He fills with abundance.
Fulfilling
His great commandment, destiny takes
over.
As treasures
pour forth from above, we are content.
