As
the Years Go By
By Kenneth L.
Birks
As the years
go by, we count our blessings one by
one.
Looking back,
we stand in awe of all God has done.
With our
lives in His hands, He brings forth
what’s concealed.
Many run in
circles, chasing rainbows, while others
yield.
Bearing
fruit, lives yielded have an eternal
weight of glory.
As years go
by, many stand in wonder, with nothing
achieved.
With regret
in life wasted, nothing is counted for
or conceived.
Sadness fills
with the wonderment of what could have
emerged.
If only the
voice within had been heard rather than
submerged.
Living for
today seemed so enticing; nothing gained
or enlarged.
As years go
by, the more we understand, our lives
but vapor.
Here today
and gone tomorrow, so little time to
make life matter.
In the
eternal weight of glory, we yield for
life, so pure.
God’s will or
ours, ultimate decisions determining
destiny.
Without
regret, lives yielded, store treasures
throughout eternity.
Help us,
Lord, taking eyes off self, turning to
You in all we do.
Help us in
seeing Your eternal weight of glory,
making us anew.
Help us to
make our lives count for something so
holy and pure.
Help us come
to the end of ourselves in all we
endure.
Help us be
forever grateful for all that You do in
and through.

May God bless
your day mightily as you give yourself
