Looking Out My Window
By Ken L. Birks
Looking out my window, God’s wonders are
seen in the skies. With expectations
of a new day, sunrise is seen as it
rises. What will this day bring that
wraps me in the arms of His love? As
the sun rises, eyes are blinded by its
brightness above. Gazing upon Its
beauty, new revelation awakens with His
love.
Looking out my window, the
sun’s warmth is felt, so bright.
Squirrels playing joyfully with no
thought nor care of fright. In the
beauty of His created ones, the hand of
God is seen. As squirrels and
sparrows play and fly freely, His care
is seen. More than those who chirp
and play, in us, He cares and delights.
Looking out my window, sadness is
seen on those who pass by. Seeing
homeless walk by, I wonder where they
sleep tonight. As the sun fades, it
gives way to darkness and cold with
bite. I pray, the provider supplies
what's needed as the sun fades away.
As birds and squirrels who play and
chirp are provided for, so I pray.
Looking out my window, mothers with
children joyfully stroll by.
Rejoicing in the miracles that’ve come
forth, they sing lullaby. Gazing upon
their beauty, their hearts fill with
wonder. Aware of the Father’s
faithfulness, their cups fill with
gratefulness. Taking note of the
beauty and wonder of God, they give
praise.
Looking out my window,
stray cats on the porch bask in the
sunlight. Sleeping contentedly, I
notice they’re well fed, though they’ve
no home. The neighborhood their
home, they disappear into the darkness
of night. Giving thanks, praise is
given for the significance of a stray
cat. In awareness, I realize I’m more
valuable and significant in His sight.
Looking out my window, for all
that’s seen, I’m filled with amazement.
Seeing the Father’s handiwork, I
rejoice in what’s made for enjoyment.
Looking with care and concern over
all that’s conceived, peace liberates.
As faith arises, His love washes over me
with all that He’s achieved. Wrapped
in the tender love of His arms and care,
the moment is enjoyed.

Purposes and the Zeal of the Lord
By Kenneth L. Birks
The essence of this book considers that God has
sovereign purposes that will yet be fulfilled
through His sovereignty. In performing them, He
uses imperfect vessels do so. How does our free
will work together with God’s sovereignty to bring
forth His purposes to fulfills them from one
generation to another? This book explores these
questions and much more. We discover that one of
the Father’s most significant traits—His patience
combined with our obedience allows us to be
involved with Him. |
