Embracing the Peace of God
By Kenneth L.
Birks
From the
wayward way and sin, lost within, we
moan.
From the
heaviness that overwhelms, we stand
alone.
As guilt and
condemnation engulf, we agonize in pain.
In
helplessness, groping about, we search
for peace.
From the
torment within, we pray for release.
Behold, the
Lamb of God comes, taking sin and same.
With blood
shed, souls are cleansed, no longer in
flame.
As peace
flows like a river, torment washes away
forever.
Breathing new
life, atonement is extended to whomever.
Giving way to
peace, sin and shame disappear forever.
Problems and
troubles, like a mighty tide, tend to
pull under.
Crying out
from blunder, taking us by the hand, He
delivers.
“Oh, you of
little faith, why did you doubt and not
believe?”
With just a
touch, He relieves, reaching out in
mercy.
Flooding our
souls with peace, we’re rescued in
wonder.
Flooded with
uncertainty, the future blurred, anxiety
rises.
Looking for
security, temptation gives way to
compromises.
Clinging to
His Word, trust makes way to Kingdom
surprises.
Leaning on
Him, peace that surpasses understanding
comes.
Putting Him
first, His Word gives place to things
added in sums.
Giving praise
to Him, we’re thankful for the perfect
sacrifice.
As our
faithful High Priest, He sympathizes
with our weaknesses.
Giving
thanks, we praise Him, who provides for
all our needs.
In moments of
unbelief, He readily forgives, putting
us at ease.
Giving
thanks, we praise Him, who continually
fills us with peace.
