In Sync with God's Purposes
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts
that I think toward you says the Lord,
thoughts of peace and not of evil, to
give you a future and a hope.
The
Psalmist David wrote, “We are fearfully
and wonderfully made.” Speaking of God’s
Great Book, He says, “all of our days
were fashioned or made for us.” He goes
on to say, “How precious also are Your
thoughts to me O God!” As seen in the
above scripture, the prophet Jeremiah
expands on this thought by relating it
to our future and how God desires to
work in our lives.
In essence,
God created and designed us to harmonize
with His plans and purposes for our
lives. God has wired us with our
personalities, innate abilities, and
spiritual gifts to operate in
relationship with His intentions. In one
of his epistles, Paul says, “We have
been saved and called with a holy
calling, not according to our works, but
according to His purpose and grace,
which was given to us in Christ Jesus
before time began.
Upon
salvation, we enter the Father’s
predestinated purposes. When we come
into a relationship with our Creator, He
destines everything to come together so
that we can be in sync with who He
created us to be concerning His
purposes. In this process, we must
continually yield and submit to the work
of the Holy Spirit; otherwise, we
short-circuit the way He has so
skillfully wired us. When we
short-circuit His wiring, things don’t
go right, and our lives end up in a
mess. As Paul wrote, “We must die
daily.” Jesus said something remarkably
similar. He said, “If anyone desires to
come after Me, let him deny himself, and
take up his cross, and follow me. For
whoever desires to save his life will
lose it, but whoever loses his life for
my sake will find it.”
Engaging
with God with consecrated souls enables
His sovereignty to meet our free will
and prepares us to be entirely in sync
with Him and His sovereign objectives.
God is so concerned about this that He
continually searches the earth for those
individuals whose hearts are fully
committed to Him in this manner.
Psalm 14:2 The Lord looks down from
heaven upon the children of men to see
if there are any who understand, who
seek God.
2 Chronicles 16:9 For
the eyes of the Lord run to and fro
throughout the whole earth, to show
Himself strong on behalf of those whose
heart is loyal to Him.
Those who
seek God and come in sync with Him are
like David, who served the purposes of
God for His generation. They are like
Paul, who said at the end of his life,
“I have fought the good fight and have
finished the race.” Will this be your
testimony at the end of your life? Or
will you be one of those who
short-circuited the way God wired you?
The choice is yours. No one can make it
for you.
Let the encouraging
words from the prophet Jeremiah spur you
on to seek God, and His purpose for your
life with all your heart as the
following verses following the opening
passage urge us to do.
Jeremiah
29:12-13 Then you will call on Me and go
and pray to Me and find Me, and I will
listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me
and find Me when you search for Me with
all your heart.
When convinced
God’s thoughts towards us are precious
and wonderful, we can wholeheartedly
embrace all that He has destined for us
to walk in. We can then abandon
ourselves entirely unto Him.
