The Helper of our Joy
It can sometimes seem overwhelming when
we think and meditate on all God has
called us to do. However, it’s essential
to remember we have an excellent helper
in the universe at our disposal. As we
are faithful to ask Him for help, He is
always there, ready, and willing to give
us the assistance needed. As we utilize
the Helper, He lightens our load and
provides us with the faith to move
forward in all that God has purposed for
us. He will never leave us nor forsake
us.
Hebrews 13:6
So we may boldly say:
“The LORD is my helper; I will
not fear.
What an
incredible statement—“The Lord is my
helper!” Yet many of us continue with
our daily lives as if He’s nowhere
around. We are so accustomed to doing
things our way and figuring things out
on our own.
How many of us are ashamed to call a
friend for help when we’re involved in a
project because we don’t want to expose
our ignorance? We mess things up because
of our pride, thinking we can do it
without help. The truth is many have
messed up lives because of their
stubbornness. They haven’t learned to
boldly say or confess, “The Lord is my
helper.”
The reason we can
boldly say, “The Lord is my
Helper,” is that the verse
before the above Scripture says,
“I will never leave you nor forsake
you.” In other words, the
Holy Spirit is continually on call. He
is our assistant to help us in all
things that pertain to life and
godliness. Jesus gave us the tremendous
promise that the Holy Spirit would come
into our lives as a helper. He said it
would be to our advantage.
John 16:7
Nevertheless, I tell you the
truth. It is to your advantage that I go
away; for if I do not go away, the
Helper will not come to you; but if I
depart, I will send Him to you.
In this world and especially during
trying times, we need all the advantages
from the Holy Spirit we can get.
Therefore, we must boldly proclaim Him
as our helper in all things, even in the
mundane things of life. By declaring Him
as our helper, we learn to lean on Him
rather than our ways and methods of
doing things. By acknowledging Him as
our helper, we fulfill the words of
Paul, when he said, “We can do all
things through Christ who strengthens
me.”
The primary key to
experiencing the advantage of having a
personal assistant on call 24/7 is
learning to acknowledge the Lord in all
our ways.
Proverbs
3:5-7 Trust in the LORD with
all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding; 6 In all your ways
acknowledge Him, and He shall direct
your paths.
7
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD and depart from evil.
We need to understand that God’s
thoughts and ways are so much higher
than ours. He views our lives from an
eternal perspective that involves our
past, present, and future. We may not
fully understand why He leads us in
specific directions at times because,
for the most part, what we see is based
on our current circumstances. However,
He knows our future and often directs
our lives from that perspective. From
our carnal perspectives, what may seem
like foolishness is the wisdom and the
help He desires to give us. Therefore,
we shouldn’t be wise in our own eyes by
ignoring the support He’s made so
readily available to us through the Holy
Spirit, our assistant. We must trust in
Him with all our hearts by not leaning
on our understanding as we acknowledge
Him in all our ways.
Isaiah 55:9 For as the
heavens are higher than the earth, so
are My ways higher than your ays, and My
thoughts than your
thoughts.
As we are faithful to commit every
day to Him, we openly acknowledge Him in
all our ways. By committing our courses
to Him, He faithfully establishes our
thoughts per His thoughts and wisdom.
Committing our thoughts to Him releases
the Holy Spirit to be our helper, giving
us the advantage as we go about whatever
our days may hold.
Proverbs 16:2-3, 9
All the ways of a man are pure in his
own eyes, but the LORD weighs the
spirits.
2 Commit your
works to the LORD, and your thoughts
will be established.
9
A man’s heart plans his way, But
the LORD directs his steps.
Paul said, “I believed, and therefore I
spoke.” Let us do likewise. May we all
boldly speak and proclaim,
“The Lord is our Helper,” as
He gives us the advantage in all things
that pertain to life and godliness “I
believed, and therefore I spoke.” Let us
do likewise. May we all boldly speak and
proclaim, “The Lord is our Helper,” as
He gives us the advantage in all things
that pertain to life and godliness with
a testimony that says, "We can do all
things through Christ.
